Performance appraisal is a systematic process used by organizations to evaluate employees’ job performance, productivity, skills, and overall contribution to organizational goals. It plays a vital role in human resource management by providing feedback to employees, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and supporting decisions related to promotions, compensation, training, and career development. An effective performance appraisal system helps organizations align individual performance with strategic objectives while encouraging employee motivation and accountability. This study focuses on the importance, methods, and impact of performance appraisal in improving employee efficiency and organizational effectiveness. Various appraisal techniques such as selfassessment, supervisor evaluation, peer review, and 360-degree feedback are examined to understand their effectiveness in modern workplaces. The research also highlights how transparent evaluation criteria and continuous feedback can enhance employee satisfaction and professional growth. Overall, performance appraisal serves as an essential management tool that not only measures employee performance but also supports organizational development. By implementing fair and structured appraisal systems, organizations can foster a productive work environment, improve communication between employees and management, and promote continuous improvement in performance.
