Abstract

Libraries, as knowledge hubs and community anchors, are increasingly challenged to adopt sustainable practices that balance environmental responsibility, economic efficiency, and social equity. This study explores the integration of sustainability principles into library management, focusing on resource utilization, infrastructure design, and service delivery. Through a mixedmethods approach combining case studies, surveys, and policy analysis, the research identifies key strategies such as energy-efficient building operations, digital resource expansion, waste reduction initiatives, and community engagement programs. Findings reveal that sustainable library management not only reduces ecological footprints but also enhances user satisfaction, operational resilience, and institutional reputation. The paper argues that embedding sustainability into library governance is essential for aligning with global development goals and ensuring the long-term relevance of libraries in the digital age. Recommendations are provided for policymakers, administrators, and practitioners to foster a culture of sustainability that transforms libraries into models of responsible knowledge stewardship. This study examines sustainability practices in library management through an interdisciplinary perspective linking Library Science, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, and Law. Libraries serve as community centers where information access, social inclusion, psychological well-being, and legal awareness intersect. The research explores how sustainable infrastructure, digital transformation, responsible resource management, and community engagement initiatives contribute to sustainable library services. The study relies primarily on secondary data, including scholarly literature, policy documents, and case studies of libraries that have successfully implemented green and sustainable practices. Findings suggest that sustainable library management leads to multiple benefits. Environmentally, it reduces energy consumption, minimizes waste, and promotes eco-friendly infrastructure. Economically, sustainable practices reduce operational costs and improve resource efficiency. Socially, libraries promote community awareness about environmental responsibility and social justice. Psychologically, sustainable library environments enhance user comfort, productivity, and mental well-being. From a legal perspective, sustainable library practices align with international frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national environmental regulations.
