Abstract

Mutual funds have become one of the most popular investment avenues in India, offering investors the opportunity to achieve financial growth through professionally managed and diversified portfolios. With increasing financial awareness, digital investment platforms, and supportive regulatory measures introduced by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the mutual fund industry has witnessed significant growth over the past decade. This study, titled "Study of Mutual Funds in India," aims to analyze the growth, performance, and importance of mutual funds while examining investor awareness, investment preferences, risk perception, and factors influencing investment decisions. The study is based on both primary and secondary data collected through questionnaires, annual reports, research journals, and official publications. The findings indicate that mutual funds have gained popularity due to their professional management, diversification, liquidity, and potential for higher returns, although investor awareness and market volatility continue to influence investment decisions. The study concludes that increasing financial literacy, technological advancements, and investor education initiatives will further strengthen the mutual fund industry and encourage greater participation in India's financial markets.
