Abstract

English language proficiency has become an essential requirement in higher education due to its significant role in academic success, professional communication, and global engagement. Effective English teaching in higher education requires innovative pedagogical strategies that address diverse learner needs, varying language competencies, and evolving educational environments. This study explores contemporary pedagogical approaches that enhance English language learning among university students. The research emphasizes student-centered learning, communicative language teaching, collaborative learning, technology-integrated instruction, task-based learning, and formative assessment practices. These strategies encourage active participation, critical thinking, creativity, and practical language application in real-world contexts. Furthermore, the integration of digital tools, online learning platforms, and multimedia resources has transformed traditional teaching methodologies, making language learning more interactive and accessible. The study also highlights the importance of continuous feedback, learner autonomy, and culturally responsive teaching in fostering effective language acquisition. By examining current trends and best practices, this paper provides insights into designing engaging and inclusive English language classrooms that support academic achievement and lifelong learning. The findings suggest that a combination of innovative pedagogical methods and technology-enhanced instruction can significantly improve students' language proficiency, communication skills, and overall learning outcomes in higher education settings.
