EDUCATION INEQUALITY AND THE REPRODUCTION OF SOCIAL INEQUALITY

Abstract

This research paper examines how education inequality contributes to the reproduction of social inequality in contemporary societies. Education is widely regarded as a pathway for social mobility and equal opportunity; however, unequal access, quality disparities, and structural barriers often reinforce existing social hierarchies. The study explores how socio-economic background, institutional practices, and policy frameworks shape unequal educational outcomes. A sociological framework is adopted to analyze the mechanisms through which education systems reproduce inequality across generations. The paper highlights the long-term social, economic, and cultural consequences of educational inequality. Findings suggest that without inclusive reforms, education systems continue to perpetuate disadvantage. Addressing educational inequality is essential for achieving social justice and sustainable development.
