Smart Libraries with Library Automation: Transforming Information Services in Academic Colleges

Abstract

With the use of information and communication technology (ICT) has transforms the library functions in all the word. Academic library also starts use of library automation to user centric library. In short library automation included computer base services like acquisition, cataloguing, circulation etc. A smart library which design to provide advance services to the user with the use of electronic and Information communication technology. In smart library various smart and advance technology are adopted to improve access to knowledge resources such as artificial intelligence, RFID, Digital Repository cloud computing etc. this paper highlighted the concept of smart library concept, advantages of library automation and smart library in academic library. This paper also overview the smart library aim to better library services and provide resources to the users.
