The quality of diet is a significant factor that dictates physical fitness in sport, which requires high amount of strength, agility, balance, and endurance like gymnastics. Competitive gymnasts must undergo vigorous training programs and at the same time ensure good body constitution, and proper nutrition is the only way to ensure this. The paper will be an empirical investigation of the correlation of diet quality and physical fitness in competitive gymnast athletes. The research design employed a cross-sectional study design to acquire information about the 120 gymnasts with a structured data about the quality of their diets and the standardised fitness measures performance. The level of diet quality was classified into low, moderate and high and the results of physical fitness were classified into performance based results. To establish the relationship between diet quality and physical fitness, statistic analysis was done using frequency, cross tabulation and chi-square tests. The results show that the relationship between dietary quality and the fitness results among athletes is statistically significant with high-quality diets showing better results. It places emphasis on the role of dietary adequacy when it comes to increasing physical preparedness, and offers empirical evidence as to the suitability of introducing nutrition-oriented programs in gynastics training regimens.
