Sport psychology is an interdisciplinary science that draws knowledge from the fields of kinesiology and psychology. It studies how psychological factors influence sports performance and how participation in sports and exercise affects both psychological and physical well-being. In addition to instruction and training of psychological skills for performance improvement, applied sport psychology includes working with athletes, coaches, and parents regarding injury rehabilitation, communication, team building, motivation, and career transitions. Sports psychology plays an important role in enhancing athletes’ performance, managing stress and anxiety, and promoting overall mental health in sports environments.
