This research paper examines the role of welfare policies in promoting social cohesion within economically unequal societies. Rising income disparities have challenged social integration, trust, and collective solidarity across nations. Welfare policies are designed to mitigate inequality and protect vulnerable populations, thereby strengthening social cohesion. This study analyzes how redistributive welfare mechanisms influence trust, inclusion, and social stability. A socio-economic and policy-oriented framework is adopted to explore institutional effectiveness and limitations. Structural challenges such as policy targeting, fiscal constraints and implementation gaps are discussed. The findings suggest that comprehensive and inclusive welfare systems contribute positively to social cohesion. The paper highlights the importance of equitable policy design and institutional capacity. It contributes to debates on inequality, welfare governance, and social unity.
