This research paper examines how social stigma creates significant barriers to mental health treatment in contemporary societies. Despite increased awareness of mental health issues, stigma continues to prevent individuals from seeking timely and effective care. Social stigma manifests through negative attitudes, discrimination, and internalized shame, influencing help-seeking behavior. The study analyzes social, cultural, and institutional factors that reinforce stigma-related treatment barriers. A socio-psychological framework is adopted to understand stigma dynamics and policy gaps. The paper highlights how stigma disproportionately affects marginalized populations. Findings suggest that stigma reduction, public awareness, and inclusive health systems are essential. Addressing stigma is critical for improving mental health outcomes and service utilization.
